MB SERIES - MAGNETIC BRAKE

The electrical connection to the brake consists of two wire leads. At zero RPM the MB series brakes have the same torque characteristics as a hysteresis brake; the torque output is proportional to the current input.

 

As shown in the torque vs. speed curves for the various MB models, the maximum torque output increases with the speed due to eddy currents. When applying constant current and the speed of the brake is increased, the current to the brake needs to be decreased for the torque output to remain the same. 

 

MBS offers a constant current power supply, the PSC-2460; the current output is a function of the 0-10 volt current command signal.
